Cheapside


Cheapside Extends from Newgate Street to the Poultry. the names in the streets leading from Cheapside are mostly named after what was sold in them in olden times, such as Wood, Milk, Bread, Honey, Poultry, &c. (bread Street was the birthplace of John Milton). Al! these streets constitute, with part of Cannon Street and St. Paul's Churchyard, the Centre of' the Wholesale Drapery Trade in London. The huge premises of Morleys', Cooks', etc. , are household words amongst drapers all over the country.
