General Post Office


General Post Office St. Martin's. le. grand. the imposing buildings at the end of Aldersgate Street form the centre of the postal system in England. The old building on the right was built in 1829, and is the head office of the London Postal District. Although added to by the addition of another floor, it is overshadowed by the building immediately opposite, which contains the Telegraph Department. Next to this huge building is another lately constructed, still more extensive, in which are the offices of the Postmaster. general and the Accountant. general, the Solicitor, the Secretary, and their staffs, etc.
