Government Offices Whitehall. the extensive buildings erected in 1876, containing the Home, Colonial, India, and Foreign Offices, were designed by Sir Gilbert Scott, and with the Treasury Offices adjoining, and the new buildings to be erected in Parliament Street, will form a splendid series of public buildings.

GRAVESEND. Kent. on the right bank of the Thames, 27 miles from London. A station on the North Kent Railway, 24 miles by rail from Charing Cross. Owing to its position, is considered the gateway of the port of London. Outward. bound ships take pilots here, and homeward Custom officers.
