Monkey Island
Monkey Island About half a mile below Bray Lock, on the Thames, and owes its name to a number of pictures of monkeys engaged in various human occupations, with which the Duke of Marlborough adorned a fishing lodge which he built upon the island. The house is nosy converted into an inn, which is used by anglers, oarsmen, and camping parties. The accommodation is primitive and cheap. There is a ferry from the island to the Bucks bank. Nearest railway station, Taplow. |
