Southend
Southend A lively watering. place on the Essex Coast, 36 miles from Fenchurch St. , largely visited in the summer season by Londoners, principally from the East End. It is a very healthy place. The tide recedes a long way at low water. The pier is about a mile and a quarter long, and the large passenger steamers call here on the way to Margate and Boulogne in the season. There are many pleasant excursions from here,. and. good walks and drives in the vicinity. |
