Southwark

Southwark better known as "the Borough," is on the Surrey side of the Thames, especially the part which London Bridge joins. It is a great centre for the Hop trade, and has also a Borough Market. St. Saviour's Collegiate Church, much overrun by railways, is here, and has lately had a new nave added to its ancient choir and Lady Chapel built in 1207. Trams from the Southwark side of London Bridge run to the outer suburbs, Brixton, Clapham, Balsam and Peckham, at very cheap fares.
