Stock Exchange (the). Capel Court, City, is a place more heard of than seen by the general public, as only Members, either Stockbrokers or Jobbers, are admitted It is the home of speculation, and of wild speculation at times, but is also, in one sense, the pulse of the nation as re presenting the value of its interests at home or abroad in the light of current events. The long lists of Government and Municipal Stocks, Railways, Mining and Industrial enterprises daily quoted in the leading papers show what an influential position the Stock Exchange of a country like ours must have.
