Strand (the). the thoroughfare leading from Charing Cross to Temple Bar is well known to most Visitors who find their way from the City to the West. The many theatres which are in the neighbour. hood make it a busy place in the evening, and late at night the rush of carriages, buses and cabs as people are hurrying off to their stations for the suburbs is very animated. Exeter Hall is in the Strand, noted as being one of the homes of the Young Men's Christian Association. Somerset House and the Law Courts are the principal large public buildings in the Strand.
