Tabard


Tabard (the) was the name of a celebrated inn in Southwark mentioned by Chaucer in the "canterbury Pilgrims". It was built in the fourteenth century, and burnt down in 1676. It was situated on the east side of High Street, Southwark, opposite St. Margaret's Church.
