What better way to spend a long summer evening than listening to live music under the stars in beautiful surroundings.

This year the 2008 English Heritage Picnic Concert Series takes place throughout June, July and August, in the idyllic grounds of England's finest stately homes.

Kenwood kicks off with a Californian vibe on Saturday 28 June with a special performance from Brian Wilson and his band, treating guests to some of the Beach Boys greatest hits as well as tracks from his latest solo album Getting in over my Head. In July Rufus Wainwright performs an exclusive acoustic set as part of only two UK performances this year and Kenwood favourite Buena Vista Social Club perform with Omara Portuondo.

In August, Michael Ball, currently wowing West End audiences as Edna Turnblatt in the critically acclaimed production of Hairspray, and Britain's most popular soprano, Lesley Garrett perform together, followed by legendary Canadian jazz singer Diana Krall. Katherine Jenkins hosts the extraordinary Last Night of the Proms with special guests Blake, followed by a firework grand finale. Katherine says Kenwood House is a very special venue for me. It is where I did one of my first ever stately home concerts and conveniently it is just around the corner from my house! It will be great to return to such a beautiful setting and to have all my friends there in the audience too

Over in Cambridge, Latin fever hits Audley End as The Gypsy Kings salsa their way to the stage on 12 July and audiences will be having the time of their lives when The Music Of Dirty Dancing takes to the stage on Saturday 19 July. The Last Night of the Proms hosted by Michael Ball and Lesley Garrett closes the Audley End season on Sunday 03 August with a huge firework extravaganza.

Not to be missed!
