Now in its 17th year, the Hampton Court Palace Festival has grown into one of the UK's most exciting music events. In a setting like no other, the newly presented Base Court plays host to an eclectic mix of concerts over 10 nights featuring some of the biggest names from the world of music.
The combination of warm summer nights, picnics in the 17th century gardens and some of the world's leading musicians make for a truly magical and unforgettable experience.
One of the most prominent opera singers of his generation, José Carreras has encompassed over 60 roles on stage, 150 recordings and appearances at major international concert-halls and opera houses. This summer he receives the prestigious lifetime achievement award at the Classical Brits.
Tonight José will be performing a collection of best loved arias and will be joined by soprano Anna Leese and the City of London Orchestra, conducted by Miquel Ortega. In the second half of the concert he will be joined by new singing sensation Faryl Smith. Faryl's debut album recently became the fastest selling solo classical album in British chart history.
