ARTIVIST 2010

Crossing 12A directed by Kim Tae-Kyun

Former soccer star and national hero Yong-soo lives in a small coal-mining village in North Korea with his wife, young son, and their dog. Despite their meager existence, they are a family. When Yong-soo's pregnant wife becomes critically ill, Yong-soo must depart North Korea in search of medicine. His wife and son must fend for themselves. Crossing is a classic melodrama about the struggle of one family to reunite despite political obstacles and inhospitable circumstances

Artivist is the first international film festival dedicated to addressing human rights, children's advocacy, environmental preservation, and animal advocacy. Filmmakers from around the world unite at the annual festival to address the importance of art and advocacy in our global community. Our mission is to strengthen the voice of advocate artists " 'Artivists' " while raising public awareness of social global causes.

Since its inception in 2004, Artivist has showcased over 300 films representing more than 45 countries, reached over 20m people with its PR campaign and been endorsed by organisations such as Amnesty International, Global Green, HSUS, Prevent Child Abuse America and the United Nations. Films premiered at the festival have included Oscar-winner Born into Brothels, Oscar-nominee Super-Size Me, Fast Food Nation, Emmanuel's Gift, and Trudell. This year, Artivist proudly welcomes back for the third time Petrobras as its official community partner.
