Lord Alvanley's Visit
The Earl of Shaftesbury, whose name became a synonym for philanthropy, lived at No. 24 in the Square for more than thirty years.
The same house is stated in Boyle's Court Guide for 1795 as the residence of the Dowager-Countess of Shaftesbury.
