35 Grosvenor Square - Edward Bouverie Pusey

Grosvenor Square, Mayfair Previous page: 24 Grosvenor Square

For a short time from 1838, the well known theologian Edward Bouverie Pusey lived at No. 35 with his mother, Lady Lucy, following the death of his wife, because of whose precarious health he had come to stay in London in order to be near the best medical advice.

The connection of Pusey with the Tractarian movement is too well known to need expansion here - but mention may be made of the fact that Baron Bunsen was a frequent guest here, as he continued to be in Hertford Street, where the Puseys moved to in April 1839.
