From the folk that brought you Yang Sing, one of Manchester's most successful Chinese restaurants, comes a classy dim sum bar. Quietly perched among the shops of King Street, Lotus offers a good-looking oriental oasis in which to escape the madding crowd. At the entrance is a long monochrome bar leading to a lighter, larger dining area with wall-to-ceiling glass windows. A beautiful lotus flower mirror hangs the length of the bar. All dim sum are fresh, tasty and at £1 a portion, hardly expensive. More substantial dishes are listed as 'semi main courses' e.g. veggie hot and sour soup, (half an) aromatic crispy duck, and soft noodles. Fab mixed lunch boxes.
