Saffrani
About Saffrani

Gee, should we list this excellent Indian restaurant under ’Indian’ or ’Seafood’? Owner Khalil Mansoori, of the popular Ann Purna and Shamiana, is exploring the interstices of the Indian and piscatorial worlds and come up with exciting new dishes never before seen in Edinburgh. The decor is modern, the dining room wee, though the menu is enormous, the atmosphere charming, though the restaurant takes a bit of finding off a main South Edinburgh street near the Festival Theatre and Old College. You might wish to try starter of batair, marinated tandoori quail, main course of imlidaar, marinated cod in medium spices with tamarind sauce, and dessert of rasmalai. Great care has been taken to match wines with each dish, a revelation.
