Cafe Lowrey

About Cafe Lowrey

In green and pleasant Ponteland near Newcastle, in the planned halcyon haven that is Darras Hall, Café Lowry is a relaxed brasserie that attracts a loyal clientele. Named for its chef, the smooth-speaking Ian Lowrey, this restaurant has all the virtues of traditional brasserie cooking, ambience and service, but in a modern-era setting with good design and fresh flowers in evidence. Cafe Lowrey is an Anglo/French bistro/restaurant, so you can look forward to dishes like chicken bois boudrin as well as grilled black pudding with mash and whole mustard cream. Main courses include, for instance, loin of venison with goats cheese mash and brandied cherries with port wine sauce. Desserts include classic crème brulee. The wine list meanders around the globe without ever straying from the affordable side of the rubicon.
