The stupendous views over the water and Gunwharf Quays might attempt to distract you from the mouthwatering modern southwestern cuisine here at Santa Fe, but not for long. This is a special kind of cooking, fusing Native American, Spanish conquistador and pioneer settler culinary traditions, then giving it all a contemporary edge. A no-sombrero zone, Santa Fe is sleek and stylish with lots of glass, modern light fittings, and wooden tables and chairs. There is a great terrace where you can watch the ferries ply the waters on their way to Wight and the continent. Thursday night is live music night. The menu includes dishes like starter of shrimp and sweetcorn griddle cakes with guacamole and habanero jelly, main course of poblano chile relleno. A taste of the real southwest.
