To source, cook and serve fresh fish and shellfish in Oxford, so far from the sea, would be too difficult for many a restaurateur. But not Fishers, now established as the town's best fish and seafood restaurant. The atmospheric interior resembles a stylish ship’s cabin - wooden floors, benches and lanterns, and so forth. Fresh fish is shipped in daily to ensure a wide choice of fresh seasonal shellfish platters. Even now there is excitement opening the ice-packed delivery boxes...Everything is delicious, but starters of tempura tiger prawns and grilled scallops are particularly recommended, as are whole baked lemon sole with a lime and dill beurre blanc, and seared yellow fin tuna steak with mixed leaves and red onion confit. Beautiful.
