There are times when Palms Brasserie is just exactly right. Lunch, for instance, or early supper before the cinema or a play, or late supper (last orders 12:45 am), or after work or when you want to meet friends in Covent Garden, or nearly anytime, now that we come to think of it. With its charming decor, highlighted by Mediterranean murals, swift, cheery service and pan-Mediterranean menu, Palms has a relaxed and serene ambience that attracts everyone from local business folk to passing tourists eager to escape the street performers outside. Starters include bruschetta or moules mariniere, while two absolute favourites for mains are Roast rump of lamb basil crust and vegetable ratatouille or the lobster and steamed seabass with mussels, squid and crab saffron fricassée.
