About The Spitz

When you have a restaurant that has performing space, diners can sometimes feel as if the eating part of the evening ranks second place to the musical part, but not at The Spitz. With a ringside seat on the lively scene that is Spitalfields Market, The Spitz is a warm, friendly bistro, gallery and music venue in the City. It attracts an eclectic crowd, part City suits, part arty East Enders, part tourists and market-goers, who enjoy an equally eclectic menu. Some love the tables outside, while others opt for the candlelit indoors. The live jazz every Friday night brings a buzz to a lively atmosphere while improvised blues and mediterranean instrumentals can be heard on alternate Saturday nights. The Spitz has also introduced live music on Mondays and Tuesdays. On Classical Monday you will be treated to heavenly sounds from the likes of a harpist, and on Tuesdays a live Brazilian trio or live jazz trio delights diners. And what’s better, it’s all for free. Food wise, try baked goats cheese with pecan nuts, rocket salad and basil dressing, or marinated Orkney herring with pickles and seaweed caviar, and main courses of fillet of sea bass on creamed potatoes, butter spinach and dill cream sauce, or wild mushroom ravioli in leek and mushroom broth, basil oil. There are very good veggie dishes. Wines and beers include organic options.
