About Lola’s

Walk up the slate stairs of the converted tram shed in The Mall in Islington and you’ll find yourself at Lola’s. And my, is she looking beautiful since her makeover. This esoteric attic space gleams with natural lighting from all directions, including the roof through which romantic diners love to watch the running water when it rains. None of Head Chef Elisha Carter’s modern European dishes are pre-cooked; all are served by smart and helpful international waiting staff. Ask their advice and they’ll probably recommend duck three ways to start, followed by some best end of new season lamb, slow cooked shoulder, crushed peas and rosemary jus. As manager Pedro says, come in once and we bet you didn’t expect it to be so good. Lola’s, by the way, is named after the writer of a pack of dusty letters discovered by the owners when they took over the lease seven years ago. In them she boasts of a successful career as a fraudulent wine critic and thief. As you do.

If you fancy a little quaff before your meal at Lola’s, why not sit at Lola’s newly refurbished bar, and choose a cocktail from the restaurant’s Classic list, or why not try one of their celebrated "wine flights"? - a selection of five wines linked together thematically and served in small portions in order to give you a taster of each. Great fun! Especially with a group of friends.

Lola’s bar has a full license, so if you just fancy a drink, pop in, relax at the bar, and listen to all that jazz...
