Then think of l’Appart, a cosy, intimate and comforting spot just off the Champs-Elysees where you’ll find a welcoming but small-scale restaurant with a library room, sofas in front of the fire, and a hideaway cellar. l’Appart is short for ’flat’, so you know what they’re aiming for and the owners have hit the mark. Decor is not like your front room, but smart, with a big bar where superb cocktails are concocted. Menu is modern French. Try starter of marinated salmon sushi style, main coure of roast duck breast with sweet turnips, and pudding of lemon tart with marshmallow meringue and candy ice cream.
