When i was a nipper, back in 1952, my family moved to Brockley Avenue and Canons Corner was where my mother would take me shopping.

Back then, there was Bruce the Chemist with the sub-Post Office on a table at the rear of the shop - no security screens in those days. Next door was Pearks grocers, with ladies in white coats and headscarves providing personal service from behind marble counters. Then came Lovibonds the off-licence and finally Walkers, later Gosdens newsagents and sweetshop. Happy days.

In the Sixties, the parade was extended to add Lucien -Coiffure et Beaute; Barnetts Barmy Bargains, Canons Corner Fruiterer,Bob the Butcher and Canons Corner Electricals.
