Calling all heroes! (And heroines, of course!)

Rehab UK, a registered charity specialising in the rehabilitation of people with an acquired brain injury, is organising its first annual Birmingham Dragon Boat Race this year as part of our essential fund raising programme.

Dragon Boat Racing originated in China over 2000 years ago as part of folk ritual, and in 2009 it finally reaches the exotic environs of Edgbaston Reservoir.

The tournament takes place at the Edgbaston Reservoir, Birmingham on Sunday 17th May 2009.

We will need lots of cheering supporters to spur our worthy competitors on to victory.

This is a fun day out for all the family and all proceeds raised go directly to the Birmingham Brain Injury Centre.

If people are interested in sponsoring this event or supporting individuals you can make your own page on www.justgiving.com/rehabuk/raisemoney follow the simple directions and get everyone to sponsor you on line.

All teams will have a minimum of three races. The fastest teams will then compete in semi-finals and a final.

We can promise the whole family experience with picnic areas, bouncy castles, face painters and stalls, as well as a variety of other activities taking place throughout the day.

If you feel this is something you would enjoy and would like to support this worthy cause. Please come along! This is a great opportunity to publicise the awareness of Brain injury in society and its long term effects. Also a wonderful photo opportunity!

If you are unable to come along, but would still like to support Rehab UK donations can be made via www.justgiving.com/rehabbirmingham.

We really do hope that you can join us for this great day out and at the same time support Rehab UK in continuing to offer services to people with an acquired brain injury.

On Sunday afternoon a report will be filed with pictures. We will then forward this to all editors of publications who support our event.
