"Shops like this are what makes Britain Great."
A review of Mad Andy's Game Station by D-lighted - Thursday 18th of January 2007
Ok the shop front could use a lick of paint perhaps, what with the new posh flower shop next door (by the way, WTF does 'Flowers from Dansk' mean? Is it a person?). Anyway, D-sgusted, that's a very funny, and eloquent, review and I must say I nearly died myself. I'm not sure how serious you're being and it looks like you have some axe to grind, but come on, are you really expecting a posh 2nd hand computer game shop? Andy runs a local shop in a local street (good for our neighbourhood), employs the yoof (good for our community), sells cheap games and DVDs (good for me), pays a little to buy them back (can't he earn a margin?). He greets his regulars by name, gives good advice and enjoys a bit of banter. Had that in Game or HMV recently? So what's the alternative? Out of town shopping centres and mega stores? Buy everything on-line? I travel to the US a lot and see just how bad things get when all the local shops shut down. Andy (and all the retailers on Stanley Road) are proof that the battle with the big retail giants is not lost!
