"Best bang for the buck hotel in London!"
A review of Barons Hotel by Federico (Argentina) - Friday 25th of December 2009
I found this hotel by 'virtually' walking the streets near the Queensway Tube Station on GoogleMaps, as the place does not have any official presence on the web. Well, they don't need it. A rare gem in the neighborhood, it's really all about location, location, location. The place is situated 2 blocks away from the heart of the area, which is full of pubs, big chain & local restaurants, cafes, souvenir shops, supermarkets, and even a nice shopping mall (Whiteleys), making it simply ideal for anyone to enjoy a little bit of the London atmosphere. The hotel is run by a small family. The staff is very friendly, although everything seems to be pretty straightforward --the reservation process over the phone, conversations, check-in and check-out. Don't expect to be pampered with excessive courteous manners and tons of hotel goodies like shampoos, soaps, towels, notepads and pens --you get exactly what you pay for, but in a really good way! The rooms are warm and spacious, and the whole place breathes 'old and tradition', which I personally liked. The place is also very clean and tidy, and feels safe and quiet. Unfortunately, they don't offer Breakfast anymore, but that's just another reason to visit the vast amount of places around, which are open mostly all day. All in all, this is the perfect budget hotel for anyone looking to spend £25-40 a day on comfortable and private accommodation in the heart of Zone 1. I definitely recommend it! (December 2009)
