"Ageism"

A review of Daily Telegraph by Lucy Lockett written on Monday 28th of December 2009

An article appeared several weeks ago (Saturday Telegraph) regarding the death of two women who were on holiday (crushed to death by beds falling on them). Reported as being in their 60s they were referred to as being 'elderly women'. Being a woman of 66, leading a very active life I think of myself (and I'm sure so many others do) as the 60s being the new 50s! I find this kind of stereotyping most objectionable.

Women in their 60s are definitely not elderly. This term should be reserved for those in their 80s!

I guess that this article was written by someone in their 20s!
