"Public money & public service vehicles"

A review of Sir John Stanley by Roderick Hilborne written on Tuesday 8th of June 2010

Dear Sir,

In these difficult economic times should public money not be spent on British made vehicles. Honda,Toyota,Nissan,Vauxhall and Jaguar/Land Rover all manufacture cars suitable for the police here.

Vauxhall and Ford make vans and ambulances,so why do our various authorities not buy them instead of Skoda,Renault,Volkswagen,B.M.W. etc

This would mean more employment, more tax for the exchequer and an improved balance of payments.

It may be neccesary to go out to tender throughout the

European union but I never in my travels have seen French police cars in Germany or Italy or Vice versa so somehow they manage to support thier local economys

Why not here in Britan.

Kind regards Rod Hilborne.
