" poor customer service"

On the 1st July 2010 I visited the Stratford on Avon branch of BHS.

I selected a blouse which was displayed on the ground floor and took it to the till to make my purchase. The young lady cashier was engaged with another customer, so I prepared to wait my turn. The cashier then said to me in a very loud voice "go to the next till darling" and gesticulated with her hands towards a short flight of stairs, which I had been trying to avoid as I was recovering from knee surgery. She then repeated "go to the next till sweetheart I am dealing with a card" and again gesticulated towards the stairs. I am afraid to say that in front of the customer she was serving I asked her not to call me "sweetheart".

I did go to the upper floor to make my purchase and was served by an efficient and polite male sales operative - who upon my request told me the name of the sales person who had spoken to me in such an inappropriate, patronising and condescending fashion - he also apologised on her behalf.

I wrote to the store manager on the same day and it would appear it is the custom of that particular store to ignore any customer complaint because I have received neither acknowledgement or apology to my letter.

May I ask BHS to ensure that all their sales personnel know how to address a customer properly and perhaps to instil in it's store managers how important it is to deal with customer complaint's or lose the customer forever.

I left the store feeling extremely irritated and humiliated and now feel even more so because the store manager has failed to address my complaint.

P.s. I have had to put this complaint on your review page because you do not seem to have a complaints site which could remain private....it verifies what I have said about ignoring complaints and leaving customers unhappy with their shopping experience in your store.
