"European & black hair stylist... that can cut"

I've just been to The Business Hair Studio at 7 Dalston Lane in Hackney. I was apprehensive before the visit as it was my first there (I was taking a risk) and I couldn't find any snaps of hairstyles online. There is no website as yet which doesn't help. I usually go to a fab hairstylist in Central London but one has to book at least 6 months in advance to get an appointment and mine was cancelled on the day. So, I searched about for a hair salon who deal with afro hair, who have experience and knowledge of being able to cut PROPERLY because in my 20 odd years of going to get my hair cut in a pixie (think 1960s Mia Farrow, Jean Seberg or bang up to date, Malinda Williams [http://black-short-hair.blogspot.com/2008/12/celebrity-short-hair-cuts-for-black.html]) haircut, only about 2 or 3 have been able to cut but even then they insist on cutting a 'club cut', which is square and 80s, even though I am very clear that I DON'T want that, I come along with pictures but I very rarely get what I want UNTIL TODAY!

When I finally got to the Business Hair Studio in Dalston Lane, I was pleasantly surprised that Ron didn't make me have my hair wrapped etc but listened to the fact I was in a hurry. Ron Foley has had the salon for 30 years and is a very friendly and jovial and can cut. For me, I prefer a dry cut because I'll go home and wash my hair anyway to get rid of loose hair but of course, I could have it shampooed etc. Also, this keeps the cost down. Many other salons will insist you have to have it washed and wrapped so the price goes up to a ridiculous amount.

So, if you're a black woman like me who doesn't do weaves and likes her own but with some chemical help from a relaxer, you may have found your man. I also like stylish and simplistic very short pixie haircuts that are soft and not square topped. I was made to feel comfortable about saying EXACTLY what I wanted where as some salons forget that we are the clients and refuse to listen.

I also liked the fact that Ron allowed me to brush my hair how I would (he clearly realised I am a creature of habit), put the parting in the exact location etc and cut it that way. This meant when I went home to wash my hair and style it, it was the same as the salon. He advised me on how to care for my hair etc and about generic products to use, eg, clay V gel but wasn't trying to flog his own stock.

Did I like my hair? Yes I did, I got my pixie haircut from Ron. As requested, it's looking like a shorter Malinda Williams. For an idea of how this looks follow website:

How much was it, I hear you ask! £25.00. I know it's a real bargain.

FYI: it's cash only - I mention this as I usually only ever use cards. Fortunately today, I had the dosh.

Also, FYI: He is also open on a Monday- pretty rare for a salon.
