"Authentic chinese food for a good price but pretty much unknown"

The somewhat strangely named Van Lang Chinese/Thai/Fusion restaurant is on a corner a few yards down from the Wood Green tube station. Myself and girlfriend have been several times and have always been impressed with the quality and authenticity of the food (she's from Beijing). Most dishes are about £5 and the portion sizes are huge. Service is relatively attentive and certainly speedy. Beef, pork and salmon dishes have been uniformly good. Duck pancakes were good with plenty of good quality meat.

The only downside is the place seems to be relatively unknown and poorly frequented - it's been almost empty every time we've been. Hence there's not much atmosphere with the (many) waiters and waitresses hanging around looking bored. The decor's nice in a functional sort of way - the draw is the quality of the food rather than a romantic night out.

All in all, highly recommended for those looking for good Chinese food in Wood Green. I'm hoping a few more people visit so the place doens't shut down!.
