I too, went for a makeover...I didn't call them they called me and offered me and i quote "Free makeover and hair, food and drink throughout the day (just crisps, sweets and some cake bars, is that food?). A free photo, refundable 12 pound booking fee once I turned up for my appointment, and no pressure or obligation to buy any photos. Simply just come and enjoy the day. Turned up for my appointment, really nice reception staff (1 out of 3 of them), great make-up staff, good experience with them...then the "doubletake experience!" went sour and downhill from there. All the hidden extras "came out" i.e. no food, just about snacks!, no goody bag as promised over the phone (they did not mention you needed to provide several names and numbers to get the goody bag until the end and even when I supplied the numbers of friends which I felt dubious about all you got was a cheap mini bottle of bubbly. In the viewing room, the member of staff was negative because I said I just wanted the free photo and she said I quote "you have had a wasted day with all these photographers we got, the make-up artists and your only going to have the free photo, its not worth me going through the price packages with you then!" (good customer service, I think not!). Then she proceeds to tell me when my pen is on the paper there is an 8 pound delivery charge for a postcard size photo that means the photo is NOT FREE! so there's NO 12 pound refund after all. O I forgot to mention after the viewing of the photos she explains there is cctv in the room, which she didn't bring to our attention beforehand and to get out of not explaining it beforehand, she said it was clearly stated on the promo video before we view the photos. So what happens as with my friend who was with me, who is dyslexic, she can see the images but not read very well where does that leave her? as she was not notified beforehand.

So this leaves a bitter taste because everything they promised was misleading all the most important things they didn't explain to me. Also thinking about it now they have kept my bank card details to refund the 4 pound of the 12 pound they charged me for a booking fee. Are they allowed to keep my bank card details for that length of time? I will be taking this up with Trading Standards and Ombudsman. Watch this space for any replies..
