"Archbishop's plea to Adeney & Boutroy"

Fifty years ago I lived in a flat at 26 Sackville Street opposite Adeney & Boutroy's old premises and would meet Ronnie Pescod occasionally in the Thistle hostelry round the corner in Vigo Street. After one such meeting when we'd been discussing historical matters we went back and he showed me a letter from a former Archbishop of Canterbury asking for more time to pay for vestments supplied some months earlier. I wonder if that letter still exists (it's older than Ron, but not much!!).

Another time while travelling back to Surrey by train

a passenger sitting opposite leaned forward and asked me if my suit was from Adeney & Boutroy. He said he was himself a tailor and recognised the cut.
