"Great potential spoilt by lack of communication"

I have bought many Muji products and like them. Over the years I think the quality has improved. Sadly, though, there's a limit to what I will buy there as the communication I so much need from a supplier is not there. They have a product I think is wonderful - the pulp shelving. Far better dimensions than a lot of more expensive products. I bought some and attempted to bespoke them (my plans were to paint one set, use decoupage on another, spray paint another etc).
You'd think they had been asked this question before, but no. I tried head office who referred me to a store, who then referred me back to head office. Then a nice man in a store asked the question on my behalf and came back with the answer "treat them like MDF" which I did but had a poor result.
I have tried contacting them online (where the web site works) but have not had a response.
It's such a shame. They should be approachable about their stock.
