"Deeply disappointing oily food"
A review of Tendido Cero by Edward - Wednesday 1st of November 2006
I was disappointed by this restaurant. While I realise that Spanish cuisine tends to rely on substantial amounts of oil to cook with, this food was almost nothing but oil and grease. Half the menu is fried or deep fried and the smell of cooking fat hangs thickly throughout the restaurant. I actually asked to be seated near the door rather than at the other end near the kitchen as I remembered the pungent odour from a previous visit. Unfortunately this did little to thwart the stench and I awoke the next morning to find my clothes and hair stinking of cooking oil. As for the tuna (one of the few dishes not to be fried) I hate to say it, but I have had better from a tin! By the end of dinner I had a horrible film of grease coating the inside of my mouth and a yearning for fresh air. Notwithstanding the genuinely attentive service and the fun buzzy atmosphere (though blighted by the oil stench) and having given this restaurant a second chance, I will not be returning and may even send them the dry cleaning bill for my clothes.
