"Friendly, charming, if a trifle aggressive with your ID"A review of Daniel Paul by Storm - Wednesday 5th of March 2008Advertisements
I had a bijou room all lined up, and I was delighted. I gave all my personal details short of blood group and retina imprint. I understand they have to guard against fraud. I could give no more assurance that I was kosher. However, because I own a property, and didn't have a landlord, I was asked for a copy of my title deeds. Eh? 'Just the first page.' I was advised. Eh? Again. Did the company wish to clone me? I'm sure this is all innocent if completely over the top, but alas my suspicians, and every one else's, were aroused. I requested my file details back (which were, along with several others, in an unlocked drawer in an office desk) and advised that I would not have my deposit back. I don't know whether that's fair or not. I suspect no. In terms of personabilty, couldn't be better - but because of their insensitive zeal, lost one good tenant, and I a wee room. The point here is cautionary: with ID fraud abounding we, the tenant, should have some assurance, we have rights also. A response would be helpful, and some goodwill gesture re my deposit Mr. Paul.
