A review of The Hub by Jim written on Wednesday 19th of March 2008

The people of Canning Town and Plaistow laid down a challenge - build us a community building we can be proud of. he result - The Hub won the 2005 National Regeneration award and came second in the Prime Ministers architecture award the same year. It has a tasty, adventurous Fairtrade cafe, inexpensive facilities conferences and events and for the community, a thriving art gallery and a marvellous, friendly atmosphere that's attracting more and more people (not to mention a wonderful receptionist). Very importantly, the building's got powerful green credentials - solar power, ground heat sinks, recycled rainwater, and an Eden Project style roof that only has to be cleaned once a year.

It's well worth a visit if you're in the area.
