"Rates doubled in the last six months at the Celtic"

Why on earth have their rates gone through the roof?! 45 GBP at Christmas 2007; 85 GBP for a single for spring 2008!

I've stayed at St Margarets for over 20 years, until they had to close, and had no problems shifting to the simpler, but cosy Celtic, but the rate hike is a bit dramatic -- in December 2007, the rooms had no televisions or phones; is the rate hike indicative of a massive overhaul? It's the only thing I can think of, but, alas, sticker shock is sending me to another B & B on my next business trip....
