I had lunch at the George and Devonshire recently as part of a group over from Germany visiting Chiswick House. We were recommended to eat there by Chiswick House itself. Despite there being 41 of us, the traditional Sunday lunch as served quickly and was delicious, almost as good as our German food! The landlord told us the the pub is even older than Chiswick House, as he put it 'serving the people of Chiswick for over 350 years'. He also told us of the smugglers tunnel which runs from the pub cellar all the way to the old fishing village which was between the church and the River Thames. We were very pleased to be made so welcome in the pub and are glad to be able to recommend it to overseas visitors as being very representative of Olds England.
