"Al Jazeera have let me down"

A review of Al-Jazeera Satellite Channel by Simon Pryor written on Saturday 16th of August 2008

I am outraged by the channel that i formerly considered to be the best, most reliable source of news. Supa has given both sides of the story more than any other newspaper outside of Zimbabwe. In no way was Supa a sock-puppet of Zanu-PF. In reality his reporting was balancing out one of the formerly extremist topics of world media. With a reporting situation like this, nothing can ever improve. Mandiwanzeera should not have been fired, but rather received an award, along with the likes of Hamish MacDonald who have been given rewards for their reporting. Now they have, like the rest, pushed Zimbabwe into darkness through their reckless actions. I am not a fan of the Mugabe administration, but whatever your views, this can only be seen one way.

The Zimbabwe situation is becoming increasingly polarized until only war can result. Civil, or otherwise. This is a direct attack on press freedom.

Many who hear this will not have watched Al Jazeera, and not realize what their reporting of Zimbabwe was like. They would regularly interview Tsvangirai, with a 10 minute interview on "Frost Over the World". In no way was this done in an attacking way.

Supa Mandiwanzeera was in no way attacking Morgan Tsvangirai. Nor was he praising Robert Mugabe. Even if he was, it would only serve to balance the opinions given by those who would interview him and constantly give MDC claims of election rigging, ignoring the fact that very little of what Tsvangirai says has any evidence. Neither does Mugabe, but people should know that not everything he says is law. Mugabe hasn't done much good for his country, but the reality of Zimbabwe is becoming further and further away, as America and Europe push the country into darkness.

SHAME ON YOU, AL JAZEERA!.
