Belgravia

(SW1) This name, apparently derived from the Viscounts Belgrave, a title of the Grosvenor family, only dates from 1825. Before that, the district was a marshy tract bounded by mud-banks and partly occupied by market gardens. (Timbs 's Curiosities of London, p. 43)
