Piccadilly. (W1) Here, at No. 11, Horace Walpole resided until his death in 1797. Here also, at No. 45, the "heaven-born general," Lord Clive, put an end to his existence. (Reference: Jesse's London, vol. I, p. 55) Colley Cibber lived at No. 20, when Poet Laureate, and here he died. Other famous residents were Lord Brougham (No. 48) , first Marquis of Lansdowne, at Lansdowne House, Lady Mary Wortley Montagu, Smirke (No. 28) , Lord Strathnairne (No. 52) .
