Devereux Court

213, Strand. (WC2) Derives its name from the mansion of the ill-fated Thomas Devereux, Earl of Essex, which stood upon its site. In this court was the well-known "Grecian" Coffee-house, one of the oldest in London, a favourite resort of Oliver Goldsmith. (Reference: Jesse's London, vol. III, p. 321)
