Nicholas Lane

City, Lombard Street. (EC4) So called from the Church of St. Nicholas A con, destroyed in the Great Fire and not rebuilt. Also supposed to be named after Sir Nicholas Throgmorton, the banker, who is said to have been poisoned by Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester, in 1571.
