Union Court

Holborn. (EC2) Originally called Scroop's Court. It derived this name from the noble family of Scrope of Bolton, who had a town house here, which was afterwards let to the sergeants-at-law. It ceased, it is said, to be a sergeants' inn about the year 1498. (Reference: Thornbury's Old and New London, vol. II, p. 531)
