The real site of Tyburn Gate is a matter of dispute. An iron slab opposite the end of Edgware Road, and about 50 yards west of Marble Arch, professes to point out the exact spot; but Connaught Square, some 200 or 300 yards north west of that spot, disputes with it the doubtful honour.
