"Christmas illuminations"

A review of Chamber Of Commerce by Phillip Cove written on Tuesday 9th of November 2010

I note that this year's Christmas theme is based on Lord of the Rings! What has this got to do with the most holy Cristian festival of the year?

I guess that some PC jobsworth at the Chamber of Commerce, in his eagerness not to offend minorities, has decided to delete all reference to Christmas on each tableau! As a small child growing up in the West End of London in the 50's, my parents would take my brother and I to Regent Street every year to "look at the lights". We would stare up in wonder at Father Christmas, his reindeers, the angels, the Wise Men, the Shepherds, stars, trees, holly, mistletoe, everything that made Christmas such a magical and exciting time for children. Since when has Narnia assumed this role? It would be wonderful if not one follower of the Christian faith did any of their Christmas shopping in Regent Street. I won't, and I'm a Jew!.
