The evening of monday 19th of nov brockley social club held a showcase night for some up and coming talent from se london, there were many highlights but 3 or 4 stand out, firstly the evening was hosted by Terry Leigh who proved that even without his band Kaluki he can still provide a cracking song and be entertaining. The night started with a very talented but somewhat unsure perfomance by serkan a classicly trained guitarist, followed by female vocalist kyla who oozed jazz,jj davis provided a rat pack set, bingo pete raised the bar with his light opera renditions, with LOVE CHANGES EVERYTHING getting a 30 second STANDING OVATION.The top singer on the night was Pem, a brilliant and confident female singer that got a STANDING OVATION for her performance of Delta Goodruns BORN TO TRY,it was truly magificent.

Hayley Gwinnell wowed the younger generation with her set of songs from MY BOY LOLLIPOP to AMY WINEHOUSES version of VALERIE,seeing that it was her first showcase she was fantastic.

The night was closed by Stacy, a young man who's soulful husky voice charmed the ladieeeees with a selection of soul and disco music.

All of the acts then mingled with the audiance that was made up of entertainment secretaries and landlords from all over the south east area, many of them with their diaries at the ready to book their favorites.

This reporter was in the club because I had heard that this event was taking place from a friend at another social club in Enfield and thought i'd take a chance, I have to say IT WAS WORTH IT.

The next Showcase night at Brockley social club is on

MONDAY 11 FEB 2008, tickets are free of charge and can be obtained from the club or by giving them a call.
