About Hamleys

Hamley’s is one of the largest and most famous toy shops in the world. Situated on one of London’s busiest shopping areas, Regent Street, the giant emporium occupies six huge floors packed full of toys and games, is one of London’s most popular tourist attractions, welcoming in excess of five million visitors each year.

The shop was founded by William Hamley, a Cornishman from Bodmin in 1760. The original shop was called ’Noah’s Ark’

and was based in Holborn. Over a century later in 1881, William Hamley’s grandsons opened up the Regent Street branch near Piccadilly Circus where the shop has remained since.
